Piano Experience Day 2024: A musical adventure for children

On 12 September 2024 opened the Akademie für Tonkunst
once again opened its doors for the annual Piano Experience Day. This special
afternoon offered children aged 6 to 9 the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of
of playing the piano - with a mix of Fun, Creativity and first
musical experiences.

 

There was a cheerful and expectant atmosphere right from the start when Mrs Whitewhich Manager the music school, about 30 Children and their parents in the Wilhelm Petersen Saal. Station 1: Creativity meets music

The first station was not just about listening, but also about creating. The children were able to visualise what they imagine a music school to look like and draw this together on a large sheet of paper. This creative phase was accompanied by an exciting music story that played from the CD player and sparked the imagination. There were also puzzles and small brainteasers, which the children solved with enthusiasm.

 

Station 2: Music theory and movement

 Music is more than just notes - the children learnt this at the second station, which was organised by Mrs Klaassen was organised. It was all about music theory, wrapped up in movement and singing. Through rhythms, singing scales and simple physical exercises, the children learnt the basics of music in a playful way. The focus was on having fun, and there was lots of laughing, singing and clapping.

 

Station 3: First steps on the piano

Of course, the highlight of the day was not to be missed: playing the piano. Under the guidance of the academy's experienced piano teachers, the children were able to try out the keys for themselves in small groups. They discovered the different sounds of the instrument, learnt simple melodies and practised their first moves. For many, this was the most exciting moment of the afternoon - the first step towards their own musical adventure.

 

To the crowning finale everyone gathered again in the
Wilhelm Petersen Hall, where the teachers Jadwiga Frej, Henrik Ruißinger and Elias Bollinger the academy's Basic programme presented. This took place in a relaxed and interactive atmosphere, with
which the children were able to join in with rhythmic instruments in a playful way.
Together they drummed to the beat and experienced what it feels like to be part of a musical ensemble.
