After an eager wait, the new Transducer grand piano has arrived in the Wilhelm-Petersen-Saal just in time for the Darmstadt Summer Courses. The full-sized concert grand piano from the Steingraeber company is equipped with state-of-the-art technology: four contact loudspeakers expand the instrument's tonal possibilities enormously and enable the exploration of undreamed-of technical, aesthetic and pedagogical paths. Together with Fanny Steingraeber and technician Bernd Schwankl, staff and students of the AfT as well as a team from the International Music Institute went on their first discovery tour with the instrument, which will be available to young artists for experimentation during the Darmstadt Summer Courses and then throughout the semester.
