After studies at the Hochschule für Musik and the University of Munich, he studied composition with Prof. Heinz Winbeck (music theory with Prof. Zsolt Gárdonyi). Since 2006 he has taught music theory at the Berufsakademie der Akademie für Tonkunst Darmstadt and since 2010 as professor of music theory at the Hochschule für evangelische Kirchenmusik Bayreuth, which he has co-directed as prorector since 2019. Commissioned compositions (e.g. "Ich flamme, Tänze im Sonnenwind" in several Chinese cities under the patronage of the German Foreign Minister), radio productions and prizes e.g. 2006 Bayer. Art Promotion Prize. From 2012 musical adaptations of Richard Wagner's music dramas for the Bayreuth Festival (Wagner for Children).
