The mezzo-soprano first studied school music with a major in piano and English, then singing in Freiburg, Zurich and Mannheim. Her most important teachers were Prof. Monica Pick-Hieronimi and Burga Schwarzbach.
Already during her studies she began an active concert career with recitals and oratorios, as well as opera engagements. One focus is on new music, and she has been involved in many world premieres.

She teaches singing and methodology/didactics of singing at Akademie für Tonkunst Darmstadt, at the Musikhochschule Frankfurt and at the Hochschule für Kirchenmusik Bayreuth. She is also a sought-after speaker for courses and workshops, and was instrumental in the German edition of the book "Anatomy of the Voice".
