Uli Partheil was born in Darmstadt in 1968. After a basic classical education at the Akademie für Tonkunst/Darmstadt with Peter Schmalfuss and Jürgen Sörup, he studied jazz piano with Joerg Reiter at the Musikhochschule Mannheim.
Partheil has worked with Jürgen Wuchner, Matthias Schubert, Janusz Stefanski since the early 90s,
Ack van Rooyen, Rudi Mahall, Hanns Höhn, Peter Back, the Mannheim Jazz Big Band, United Colours of Bessungen, the Emil Mangelsdorff Quartett and many others.
He is also a lecturer for the workshop "Darmstädter Jazz-Conceptions", which he took over as artistic director in 2021.
In 2008 he received the Darmstadt Music Prize
