On 2 November 2024, the Ingrid zu Solms Foundation presented this year's awards for human rights and culture in Bad Homburg. A special honour went to harpist Anne-Sophie Bertrand, who received the 2024 Culture Prize for her outstanding artistic work and her continuous promotion of contemporary music.
Anne-Sophie Bertrand, who teaches at Akademie für Tonkunst, trained at the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Royal Conservatoire in Brussels and has been principal harpist of the Hessischer Rundfunk Symphony Orchestra since 2000. Her virtuosity and stage presence have delighted audiences worldwide, from the Wigmore Hall in London to the International Arts Festival in Beijing. Her ability to interpret modern compositions with elegance and emotional depth has earned her high acclaim in the music world.
Bertrand, however, epitomised the spirit of the cultural award through her innovative work and her contribution to modern harp music. The award recognised not only her artistic talent, but also her influence on cultural diversity and inspiration in the music scene. In addition to Bertrand, Dr Monika Hauser and Prof. Dr Ruth Halperin-Kaddari were also honoured for their commitment to human rights. Read the full article here.
