On 5 June, the Kunsthalle Darmstadt and invited Akademie für Tonkunst once again to the First Friday concert. After Guitar music in February and Singing with violin in March This time, the sounds of flutes and clarinets filled the exhibition rooms of the Kunsthalle. The students in the classes taught by Mareile Erten (flute) and Michael Schmidt (clarinet) delighted the audience with a varied programme. Ranging from classical to modern, they delivered solo and chamber music performances of a high standard.
The evening opened with music from Mozart’s *The Magic Flute* in an arrangement for three clarinets and bass clarinet. The programme then took a modern turn – in keeping with the paintings on display at the Kunsthalle – with works by Edgar Varèse, Alfred Uhl and Jacques Castérède. In addition, the students performed a partita by Johann Sebastian Bach, works for solo clarinet by Igor Stravinsky, „Syrinx“ for solo flute by Claude Debussy and waltzes by Franz Schubert, receiving great applause.
The third First Friday concert took place amidst an exhibition of works by Robert Zandvliet, whose art draws on key influences from North American colour-field painting of the 1950s and 1960s.

– 2 October 2026: Guitar duo Aleksa Šarčević & Danijel Dondjivić
– 6 November 2026: Violin music (Rüdiger Lotter’s class)
– 4 December 2026: Clarinet music (Michael Schmidt’s class)
